You will have to complete a minimum of three years of work as a surgical technician in an operating room or have the same amount of time put in as a doctor assistant in the operating room. Working in an operating room in the military is included as experience that will be included in your three years of work. Your schooling will include learning about a few different areas that pertain to the human body. These classes will help you understand such things as the terminology that is used in the chemistry, biology, and other surgery related areas. There are advanced courses that will be taken that will make you aware of Pharmacology, surgical anatomy, Pharmacology, and other more clinical parts of working as a surgical assistant.

To be able to work in a surgical assistant position you will need to have certification in CPR as well as life support. They must be knowledgeable about all of the vaccinations that are being used and have a complete understanding of the vaccinations that are used for Hepatitis B and tuberculosis. Staying up to date in all of these areas will ensure that you are able to assist in any situation that you are called for.

The surgical assistant salary is a marker for someone that is interested in working in the medical field. They can find a team of high profile doctors to work for and they will find that their careers are very secure. They can also have a specialty in certain areas like heart surgery, neurosurgery, and preparing wounds for treatment.
