Search Engine Optimization Will Always Be The Future

Ten years ago, the thought of search engine optimization was just about as crazy as the belief that a lot of people had in the Internet becoming an integral part of our day to day lifestyles. In the 90's, with most businesses doing quite well (so they thought!) using the traditional store front, the idea of conducting business online was completely foreign. Bring on the present day, and the idea of creating a business really does come hand in hand with creating an online presence, as most people these days just don't use a phone book anymore, and instead use the internet, be it from a mobile device in their back pocket, or their PC.

Fast forward 10 years into the future, and everyone has internet access no matter where I go. Personally, I carry a cell phone that has mobile internet access, and an iPod touch for accessing my mail on the run. With risk of sounding lazy, my phone book is still sitting in the garden where the delivery guy left it several months ago.

The point to all of this is that in present times, the biggest desires are those that are on demand and accessible. Preferably, if it can sit in your back pocket as well. What people want is to be able to find what it is that they are after in the shortest time frame possible, and this is where Search Engine Optimization comes into play. This is the process of promoting your website in a manner that will increase its standings for a particular keyword in the search engines.

Gaining this kind of attention in the search engines has a specific process about it, heavily understood and interpreted by some of the best SEO Experts on the planet. Me personally, I explain how I learned SEO in The SEO Method review, which is a piece that I wrote recently detailing exactly how I managed to rank for so many keywords in Google. At the end of the day, because this kind of information, and these skills are so accessible these days, this industry is so wide open that you could easily be finding yourself competing against your grandparents, or even your neighbour.

All in all, the methods of SEO that are out there are highly varied. Some with emphasis on article marketing, others that have a social media element… the key is in learning a method that works for you, your business, and your brand. It goes without saying that avoiding anything that is labelled as being "Black Hat SEO" is always going to be a good thing. Just remember, it takes just as much work to create an honest business as it does to scam your way through the search engines. The key is to learn a method that is evergreen in every way, that promotes longevity of your business in an honest manner.
