Do-It-Yourself Residential Security Systems Becoming Advanced

I Wish We had Residential Security Systems
About a month ago, we went to the Bahamas with the kids. It had been years since our last vacation, so we booked a two-week trip. I was concerned about leaving the house unoccupied for such an extended period and discussed with my husband the possibility of buying a home security system before we left. We live in a nice neighborhood with a very low crime rate so my husband scoffed at the idea, saying home security was too expensive since we did not really need it.

Well, I guess fate heard his words, because when we got home we discovered someone had broken in. And I do not mean they took the laptop and dvd player. They took virtually everything and the house was in shambles. They even stole a blender and steak knives.

We had locked the house up tight before the vacation. We installed timers on some outlets in the house. We stopped mail and newspaper distribution. We did all that you are supposed to do when you go on vacation. The detective said locking everything up is good, but the robbers can pry a locked door open in no time – and after that they have all your stuff. He said the only things that will really deter burglars – besides a crazed German Shepard inside our house for our whole trip – are security alarm systems.

Once the detective got his information and the dust settled, I handed out some I told you so’s to my husband and then we got down to talking about it. This was a very frightening and unnerving thing we did not want to go through again. It was clear that to really defend our possessions – and our family, especially – we had to get an alarm system for the house. I called alarm and security agencies in town and quickly determined there are tons of options to these things and the cost is all over the map too. Professionally installed and monitored alarm systems with smoke and fire monitors, call backs, and computer access can cost hundreds to set up and then almost a hundred a month for monitoring. They cost a lot, but they provide a lot of security.

Our family is on a more limited budget, and thankfully my husband is kind of handy around the house. He is no expert by any means, but the home alarm systems we ended up finding were very easy, yet very effective. In little kit, they furnish a battery powered transmitter and two simple motion sensors that bounce signals toward entry ways. We also got a couple inexpensive expansion sets to add detectors on three windows and the back door. So for like $115 we had a wireless home security system. It does not have all the fancy features, but we can leave the house and sleep well. More Residential Monitoring Systems Here: http://home-security-alarm-systems.com/free-alarm-quote
